The winter/holiday season can be so mentally draining. There’s so much to do, it’s stressful and extremely cold. I usually don’t want to go anywhere and just stay home in my comfort zone and that can be a bit depressing. So I want to give you some mental health tips to get you through the winter.

Mental Health Tips For Winter

Be Kind To Yourself

Everyone knows that winter is rough so you have to keep that in mind and be kind to yourself. For me I know that I have a lot to do with the 12 days of Blogmas. I had a lot of things planned but I decided that I need to just be kind to myself and do what I can. Don’t stress too much about the things you can’t control and remind yourself that the winter season is always rough.

Set Boundaries With Family

One of the many stressor during the holiday season is dealing with family. I think that setting boundaries with your family can help relieve some of the stress. You need to figure out what you are and aren’t willing or mentally capable to do. I recently had to tell my mom that because of the 12 days of Blogmas that I can’t focus on anything else so I told her one day that I can help with getting gifts.

Give Yourself A Self Care Day

Schedule time to have a self care day. So for one of my blog posts I’m doing a self care routine and that’s how I’m scheduling my self care day. I’m going to take a bath, light some candles, use a bath bomb and watch a movie.

Ask For Help

I know that asking for help can be tough but I’m sure the people that care about you would like to help you. The past two years my friend Christina has helped me with blog post ideas and sending gifts for my pictures. This year I helped her by sending winter clothes to her in New York. It’s okay to rely on people during the holidays. That’s what your friends are here for.

Do Some Exercise

Even though you might want to stay in doors you have to get out of your house and be active. Go outside and have a walk around your neighborhood. Go to the gym to get some pent up anxiety out. If you do want to stay home try some yoga. For me when I don’t exercise my mental health suffers. You don’t have to be intense with it but it definitely helps out.

Embrace The Holiday Season

Try to enjoy the holiday season as much as you can. Yes it can be stressful but trying to get in the holiday spirit can help you feel better. I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t sure about doing the 12 days of Blogmas this year. It stressed me out so much and what helped was trying to get into the holiday spirit. I decorated my room and watched a christmas movie and it made me feel better.
