About Me
Hello! My name is Claudie and I’m the blogger behind Defining My Essence. I write about lifestyle, fashion, mental health and content creator tips. I want Defining My Essence to be a safe space for creative women like me. I’m all about positivity and improving myself so I hope you stick around.
I’m Haitian and even though I wasn’t born in Haiti I’m really proud of my Haitian/Caribbean heritage. I was born and raised in Florida, I like the warm weather and I don’t think I can live anywhere else. My bachelor’s degree is in psychology. I love to help people, not only is my major providing me with the tools I need to help others, it’s helping me. I’m great at listening to people and giving advice. I like to say I’m an introvert, I like to keep to myself but when I’m with close friends I become more outgoing. There are so many new things that I want to do with my life, I’m always trying to improve myself and learn as much as I can. I feel like my entire life I was living for other people and not myself. I’m on a journey of finding myself and I want you to come along to experience it with me.
I started my blogging journey in February of 2018 after quitting a job that caused me extreme stress. It was horrible and I knew that this couldn’t be my life. However, when I first started I was actually anonymous and the blog had a different name. I was too afraid of people around me knowing what I was doing. At the time I didn’t realize it but it was holding me back from my full potential. I revealed myself and changed the name of the blog in August 2019 but because of school and work I couldn’t focus on it the way that I wanted to. Then the pandemic hit in 2022 and it made me put things in perspective. It’s the first time since I started writing that my blog is my priority and it feels so good. Even though it’s been a short time that I’ve taken it seriously I’ve seen success that I could’ve never imagined before. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me next!
